Maharaj Appointed Executive Director: Marketing and Product Development
Gateway would like to officially welcome and introduce Minnie Maharaj who has recently joined Gateway Communications as Executive Director of Marketing and Product Development. She has already provided an invaluable contribution in the initiation of the new South Africa voice termination service and we are very excited to have her as a fully-fledged member of the team.
Minnie joins us from Vodacom where she was Managing
Executive, Wholesale Services since 2006. There she led the investments
in sub-marine cables, WACS and EASSy as well as roaming services
and voice interconnection. Minnie now boasts an extensive portfolio
beyond international business to include all domestic interconnection,
relationships with other service providers, global capacity management
as well as product development and marketing. This, coupled with
her tremendous experience in both the fixed and mobile telecommunications
industries confirms the material difference her output will make
to Gateway’s work across the continent.
Minnie will be working to develop innovative new products for Gateway whilst her marketing portfolio will focus on Gateway’s brand positioning to further entrench the company into the market. Minnie comments, “The next five years will see huge developments in African wholesale services. The capacity brought into the continent by the entry of sub-sea cables will become a driver for economic growth and the competitive market will ensure prices are kept low for consumers. Continued investment in projects aimed at bringing capacity inland and boosting access for consumers and business around the continent will be key in driving the future of wholesale.”
Based in South Africa,
Minnie will be spearheading Gateway’s work to support carriers
across the continent and to supply solutions across terrestrial,
satellite and wireless infrastructure. Continued investment and
R&D will ensure that Gateway is positioned to provide the best
possible Carrier and Wholesale Services, while delivering on our
vision of “Connecting Africa”.
