Organisational
Change
The
African telecommunications market is changing rapidly, with increasing
consumer and business demand for products and services. With this
comes increased investment from carriers in capacity and infrastructure.
Gateway
is moving with the times too, adapting to this major market opportunity
to further take the lead as the carriers’ carrier in Africa.
This involves the creation of a new company,
Gateway Carrier & Wholesale Services, which is focused exclusively on meeting the needs of Africa's carrier and ISP markets.
Following
substantial investments in WACS and the successful launch of SEACOM,
Gateway Carrier & Wholesale Services will be strengthened by
the addition of a wholesale cable company, which will manage our
investments in submarine cables and the entire core infrastructure
through the creation of a new division serving the pan-African wholesale
market.
Over
the last seven years Gateway’s COO, Mike van den Bergh has
led strategic development in the carrier markets and has been
appointed as CEO of Gateway. He will oversee the new organisation, that will
see carrier and wholesale customers receive further benefit through
additional investment in connectivity infrastructure and access
to more sector specialist resources.
Gateway
has built its reputation on pan-African communications and these
organisational changes further concentrate our focus on our constant
vision of “Connecting Africa”, by better serving Africa’s
leading fixed line, mobile operators and ISPs.
