Gateway Communications partner with  Cambridge Broadband to create Nigeria's largest point to multipoint microwave network

Lagos, Nigeria, 29th January 2010: Gateway Communications Nigeria, headquartered in Lagos, today announced a contract with Cambridge Broadband Networks to create the Nigeria’s largest point to multipoint broadband wireless network. Gateway will use Cambridge Broadband’s industry leading VectaStar II platform to provision 130 hubs and 5000 terminal stations that will deliver last mile broadband connections across Nigeria.

Gateway Communications acquires 10.5Ghz spectrum licence for 10 states in Nigeria

December 21, 2009 – Lagos, Nigeria - Gateway Communications has announced the acquisition of a 10.5Ghz spectrum licence for 10 states in Nigeria. The states are Kano, Kaduna, Rivers, Delta, Abuja, Edo, Oyo, Anambra, Abia and Enugu. The acquisition follows Gateway’s successful roll out of the AirlinkTM and MetroLinkTM 10.5Ghz spectrum solutions in Lagos and furthers Gateway’s drive to build a pan-African connectivity network that covers every major African city based on satellite, submarine cable and terrestrial (fibre) infrastructure.

Gateway Communications Rescues Carriers and Customers During Nitel Strike

The strike by employees of NITEL (Nigerian Telecommunications) and its mobile communication arm, Mobile Telecom (Mtel) has left customers using SAT3 cables no connectivity, leaving businesses unable to trade, and additional congestion on other networks. Internet users and international corporate users have all been affected by the shut down of Nigeria’s only international fibre optic cable.

Gateway Communications has secured a Spectrum Licence in Nigeria allowing it to enhance its Internet Access and VPN solutions. It will use the spectrum licence to launch next generation, metropolitan area networks (MAN), for example linking bank branches all across Lagos in real time and with high bandwidth.
